TRIBUTARIES
A Traveling Art Exchange Sponsored by New Rivers Press
When New Rivers Press offered to
publish my second book, the last thing I
expected to be asked was, "Do you want
a gallery?" And yet, that's exactly what
Al Davis said.

I was stunned. Although I have a long
history of working with artists, what
kind of mythical poetry publisher
overtly supports interdisciplinary
collaborations?

New Rivers Press, as it turns out.

If I said, "Yes," to the gallery
immediately, it took longer to figure
out what to do with the Space.
Although I had just finished a large
exhibit with sculptor Kris Mills, I
decided to create a gallery that
represented the 2006 poetry
Publications by NRP, a gallery in
response to both my book and the
other book being published, Terrain
Tracks by Purvi Shah. New Mexico, New
York, and Minnesota artists were
invited to respond.

A year and a half later, after an exhibit
during the NRP Literary Festival in
Fargo/Moorhead, and an Exhibit for
Poetry Month at 516 Arts in downtown
Albuquerque, all I can say, "Phew. What
a beautiful ride."

"The guide here is nature, getting to
the herbs of healing, against the
body's dismantling. Brilliant imagery in
a thoroughly brilliant book."
